ELECTROLYSIS IS THE ONLY METHOD OF HAIR REMOVAL DEEMED PERMANENT
IN CANADA & USA.

Types of electrolysis

All three techniques are proven effective and deliver permanent results. Your complimentary consultation with a certified electrologist will help identify which method is best for you.

Galvanic

Uses direct current to cause a chemical reaction in the hair follicle extinguishing the cells responsible for hair growth. Each hair is treated for a longer duration to ensure enough time is given to initiate the chemical reaction.

Thermolysis

Uses a high frequency alternating current to create heat and coagulate the hair growth cells. This method is executed more quickly then the others and no chemical reaction is initiated.

Blend

By combining the two methods of Thermolysis & Galvanic electrolysis, the heat and chemical reactions work together to spread into the hair follicle and eliminate cells responsible for growth.

Why choose electrolysis for hair removal? Here are the quick facts:
  • Since 1875, electrolysis has been an effective way to achieve permanent hair removal. Modern technology improvements have only made the process more comfortable and time efficient.

  • Electrolysis is recommended by doctors for individuals with hirsutism & hypertrichosis.

  • Treatment is not restricted by skin or hair pigment. Electrolysis works on white, blonde, grey, red, brown, and black hairs, and can be safely performed on all skin tones.

  • Electrolysis is not done in one session, but over time to capture all the hairs targeted for removal.

  • With a certified electrologist, treatment is easier than you may think. Various methods are available to best suit your hair growth and pain tolerance. Booking a complimentary consultation will help your certified electrologist assess your hair growth and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Let's dive in to this permanent hair removal technique
What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis involves the insertion of a probe into each hair follicle to deliver electric currents that destroy the hair root. It is the only permanent method of hair removal.
- PHSA, Electrology & Laser Hair Removal

An electrolysis probe is essentially a very fine needle, generally a little smaller than the hair being removed, which is inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle. The small amount of electrical current applied permanently destroys the growth cells stopping the hair from growing back. Any hair or skin colour can be effectively treated with electrolysis. No other hair removal technique, including laser treatment, can provide the permanent effects that electrolysis can.

Depending on the modality (or method) used for electrolysis, direct current, high frequency current, or a blend of both will be used during treatment. It is important for clients to be well hydrated and clean before each treatment for the best possible results. Hydrated follicles tend to conduct electricity better, which makes treatment more successful.

Since electrolysis is a targeted technique, clients can be selective of what hairs they would like removed and are not required to shave beforehand. Do not wax or tweeze hairs before an appointment. Hairs must be long enough to be grabbed with tweezers during treatment. Clients can trim the hairs with small scissors in between sessions, if necessary.

Session length can vary from 15 minutes to over an hour depending on the area being worked on and the density of the hair. A consultation is required to determine a treatment plan and take into consideration all factors that can affect hair growth, including (but not limited to): life stages, hormone imbalances, medical conditions, prescriptions, stress, past hair removal methods, and genetics. In general, clients can expect the hair removal process to be complete in about 12-18 months.
